The Pandemic has literally changed the world we live in. The way we conduct ourselves in our everyday lives whether it be work, school, interactions with family/friends, travel, shopping, medical care – it has all been affected. Our already fraught healthcare system has been busting at the seam trying to maintain staff levels, keep up with ever-changing medical algorithms all while trying to care of Covid patients that continue to emerge with fluctuating variants. These unprecedented circumstances are the ingredients that have brewed the recipe for the Great Resignation. Lots of people at once are quitting their jobs and seeking other opportunities. Are you next?

In a recent episode of Licensed to Live, I told you not to quit in a ‘hail of bullets.’ Instead prepare and have a strategy, so you don’t end up in the same situation you left. Consider prior to quitting:

  • Analyze the problem – are you on the ‘right seat of the bus?’ Is this the right job for you?
  • Ask for what you need – Identify your needs and ask for it. Minor changes can bring great satisfaction. Know when to bargain.
  • Transition time – take time off between jobs; don’t go from one hamster wheel to another. Allow time for self-care.
  • Benefits – considertiming so you don’t have lapse in insurance and other important benefits.
  • Rank things by their importance level – Look at the entire package, not just the pay, and rank the tangibles of your position.
  • Look to the future – set long term goals and be lofty with them.

It is of utmost importance to avoid leaving abruptly if you can. If you are part of the Great Resignation, use your skill sets and plan your exit to the best of your ability and then move forward! There is a brand new future waiting for you out there!
